FoPOC are pleased to have played a part in saving the veteran Japanese cherry tree on the main avenue. This tree was slated to be felled last spring on safety grounds. FoPOC objected strongly to both this and a far scarier prospect for all of the cemetery’s trees, resulting in Brent commissioning a revised survey of the trees at risk by an arboriculturist skilled in heritage landscapes.
You may have noticed recent careful trimming of selected trees that has also saved the lime avenue to the northern pathway.
FoPOC worked with London Timber Frame to help construct some timber crutches using traditional Japanese techniques and ensure our favourite cherry may continue to display its wonderful blossom for years to come.
